Default monitor shutting off?

got a comp messin up. keep in mind this only happens when logged into world of warcraft. everything will go fine for a few then monitor goes into powersave mode and computer is non responsive. any other time, such as surfing net or email or anything like, it never happens. only in Wow. what could cause this and why? we have ruled out the monitor because we bought another one and it still did it.

Does it come up with any error messages when you reboot after this? It might be a driver issue. You can also try enabling VPU recover in CCC and see if that works. The only other thing I can think of off hand is that it might be a heat issue.

no, sorry for not clarifying. it is a friends comp. the case he is using is cheap and it came with this power supply. he had to use a moley adapter just to power the graphics card. the psu says "black steel" as a brand i'm guessing on the sticker.

Is this the one? If so, the specs should work ok. 25Amps on the 12V rail would give 300W... minus a bit of inefficiency. That should be enough for a 9600GT, right? Although the thing is cheap, so it might not be working properly.

You can try switching the PSU out for a different one of course. I'd suspect drivers or heat before a bad PSU though, unless you know something about this one that I don't; which is very possible.

Mine's done that (well an old system did) and it turned out to be the PSU wasn't holding its end of the bargain. That Corsair is enough to run your stuff, that is unless there is something wrong with it. Good luck.
