To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular (8) Sequential does not matter as much as random for OS drives

Does this mean I can stick in my old x1950 alongside my 4870 without using the crossfire bridge?

Also, nice overclock on that ATI card :P
As separate displays, yes. Crossfire? No.

Windows Vista won't work, but you can with XP or Windows 7

You'll have to you catalyst 6.2 (or it might be 6.3) for the x19**, after that the drivers don't support them. In short: yes

Essentially it will just work as 2 extra DVI ports. Unless, you set that card to the main display, in which case your other card will be acting as extra DVI ports. Its a little complicated.

I'm not sure how two different generations of cards would work under one brand of drivers, though. I've never tried that.

You COULD do it that way, but you could just use the older Cats for both to make it simple.
