I do agree with you that 8800GTS (even the 320MB version) is faster than HD2900XT

Look here

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=722&chart=283
http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=722&chart=288

It those ^^ charts 8800GTS beats HD2900XT in 4 games, while HD2900XT won only in 2 games !!!!

And it seems that 8800GTS got better overall FPS
http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=722&chart=318

And according to techreport, 8800GTS won against HD2900XT 1GB in three games, while HD2900XT won only in two games
http://techreport.com/articles.x/12956/6

So these are three recent reviews showing that 8800GTS is better than HD2900XT

The HD2900XT holds the record for benchmarking at the moment.

Is it time to put it to the top yet?

No, they were tested with new drivers

Techreport used Catalyst 7.7

Firingsquad used the latest ATI beta driver

I don't know about Tomshardware, but I just posted their latest charts

Well I still think it belongs above the 8800GTS. This list was compiled before the new drivers were released, too, for whatever it's worth. The latest ATI beta driver would be 7.8 I believe, and thus the Firingsquad would be the only up-to-date benchmarks.

Why ??

According to tomshardware charts, 7950GX2 outperformed X1950XTX in almost all cases. It even outperformed 8800GTS in some cases
