All 8 series and 2000 series cards support DX10, but anything less than 8800 or 2900 isn't that great. Other than that, there is nothing else.

so right now the best dx10 budget card is the 8600 GTS

will there ever be a 8600 GTX or 8600 Ultra?

Dun know.. go with an 8800 you can get an 8800GTS 320 mb for $259 after rebates

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130082

AN 8600GTS with 512mb for $189 after rebates

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130286

Or an 8600GT with 256mb of ram for $119 after rebate

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150229

I would NOT recomend going any lower then these if you are buying a videocard anytime soon

No GTX and Ultra are only used in the highest of the highend cards.the 8800s are the only ones with the GTX and Ultra in the hole 8 familiy.8600,8500,and the 8400 cards will ether have GT or GTS.AND NO a 5900 untra is not faster than a 8800unltra nor is a 6800 Ultra just incase you wanted to ask about that to.

I don't think there is any difference between the 8600GTS 512MB and 8600GTS 256MB in terms of performance

You can get an factory overclocked 8600GTS for $132 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127284

And you can get factory overclocked 8600GT for $99 after rebate

I just had a great idea. You should list the average AtiTool FPS for each card at the standard stock clocks. The ranking is good, but it's hard to tell how much difference there is between one card and the next. Sometimes the difference is big, and other times it's not.

I'll post my average FPS a little later.
