I have always believed that people place far too much emphasis on just the chip, as that is all ATI or Nvidia makes. Granted it is the GPU, but so much more comes into play.

Personally, I think ATI and Nvidia are both great. I recommend either one to different people, and the only thing that varies is what the user's specific needs are. Some people must have the best of the best, while others are just looking for the best bang for their buck.

That being said, I have used ATI for a long time. No bias, but i build on limited budgets and my options for my current system were $200 for a HD 4870 or over $240 for a GTX 260. If they had cost more similarly at the time, the outcome would probably be different.

I run ATI only since the 4000 series. I have a lot of nVidia cards lying around here though.

nVidia. i tend to prefer ATI, and want to switch, but their Linux drivers are really lacking in polish compared to nVidia...

ATI my HD4850's have been so good. Im waiting for HD5870's but im so tempted by the HD4890's and a 1000MHz Core

Nvidia in most cases. I've owned several ATI cards before, but come time for when I was buying my card, Nvidia had the better pricing (not to mention folding power) so I went with them.
In general, whoever has the best "bang for buck"

Yeah even the people that have Nvidia on their sigs vote for ATI haha. But there aren't that many votes in yet.

To me it shows that the site is up to date with its knowledge. I have been on sites that are incredibly biased towards Nvidia. I think that a lot of people dislike ATI because of how horrible (or that is what ive been told, I personally have never had an issue) their software is compared to Nvidias. In more recent times, their software has been just fine to me.
