Was ATI this gen and will be ATI the next gen NVidia can only get me back if they release something remarkable like the 8800GTX back in the days (which was the card I had before the 4870x2).

In more recent times, their software has been just fine to me.
Actually this is OCN. People buy lower end parts and over clock them. Is not like veryone will go and buy the top of the line CPU, Video card and Motherboard and then overclock. It's a waste of money even if you are overclocking when you can get similar performance by getting the 3rd best video card or the 4th of 5th best CPU and overclock the crap out of it.

I have a Q9550 which is 2.83Ghz at default clock but runs perfectly fine at 4.13Ghz. How much would I have to spent to have a processor with similar performance otherwise?

A lot of people go with ATI because their prices have always been lower. Not necesaraly because they have the fastest cards.

Again this is OCN and most people overclock so it's common sense to buy cheaper parts to overclock.

I bought ATI before, that was many years ago. After using Nvidia for a while I noticed that their drivers really sucked at that time and their drivers din't have many good options for TV Out as well. But Nvidia was always on top in performance so my next buy and everything after has always been Nvidia. I just try to buy someone not too low end or not too high end. I went from a 8800 GTX to a GTX 280, I had to RMA it and now I got a GTX 285. I'm pretty happy with the performance and I didn't pay the price of a GTX 285

Well another thing is that a 4890 is just as good as a GTX275/GTX285 but is a lot less money and can OC higher then the GTX285.

ATI has 12 more votes than Nvidia. Probably because ATI are cheaper and look cool.

A 4890 is as good a GTX 275 and they are the same price. I would like to see a review that shows an overclcoked 4890 beating a overclocked GTX 285.

I looked at about 5 different 4890s review before buying my GTX 280 and guess what? from the reviews I looked at I don't think the 4890 beat the GTX 280 once. Sure you can overclock a 4890 but is not like it will overclock 25%. Maybe with extreme cooling but not air.

I find it astonishing that you find it ashtonishing. I'm not an ati fanboy because I upgraded from a 9800gtx+ and liked the performance that it gave me, but since I'm not Oprah who can afford to buy everyone on ocn nvidia cards, I stick to what my wallet can handle.
