rly? so if i had 4870 1GB+4890 CF they would both run at their respective clocks (SP's are the same etc)? SWEET! So it's just when you have a 512 and a 1GB card where the faster one is brought down to the slower one's specs?

only the amount of vram will be brought down to the lower spec. Crossfire can work with different shader amounts, vram frequency and core clocks. The gpu however have to be in the same generation and class, so basically same bus width.

But no point in actually spending the extra cash on a new card with 1GB when you only got 512mb.
