Default card for dual/tri monitors

can any one recomend a graphics card for dual/tri monitors. they are all going to be 19inch. i am only going to use one for gaming and turn the other 2 off but at other times i will run the rest

most you can do with a single card is dual monitor. I'd say a GTS 250 and anything above that should do you well for gaming+more.

ATI's Eyefinity cards (5850, 5870) can support 3 displays, but I believe there's a limitation like all monitors must utilize Display Port.

I don't know anything about how it works, but I've read the new ATI cards can do up to six monitors on a single card (I really don't understand how that works as there certainly aren't six dvi ports on the back of the card).

Anyway, the hot cards out now are the 5xxx series from ATI - check them out. I think most if not all of the 58xx cards can do 3 monitors.

Its the 5870 Six Edition, it has 6 Ports. Otherwise ATi 4800s can do 2 and Regular 5800's can do 3.

5800's can only do 3 if the third monitor is Display port compatible.
2 cards is the best and cheapest way of doing what the OP wants, I did exactly that to run 3 monitors for months. 9600GT + 8600Gt for the third monitor.
