1080p thru vga cable?

ok guys im trying to connect a hp pc with a intergrated intel gpu to a 50inch lg 1080p
but the thing is the tv is only taking 1024x768 anything higher the tv says incorrect format how do i output 1080p to it?

I tried too with a Laptop with ATI card and it does not work through VGA port.

you cant do 1080p through a VGA connection. you need to have an hdmi output to get 1080p to your tv

VGA cable can handle the resolution. You're TV can't through that input though. Use an HDMI input and you'll be golden, but the VGA input is grossly limited in possible resolutions.
I had the same situation with an older 720p television...VGA was limited to 1024x768, but could do 1366x768 if into the HDMI.
