Question Why Do They Change Company's Name? And They Still Have The Same Specs?

Why do they have different company's in the same graphics cards like HIS,Sapphire,Powercolor,XFX etc... Whats the point if they all the same specs?

Sometimes one makes better PCB's? Or uses better RAM. But really it gives them all a chance to make money.

Brand loyalty, different distribution channels, different warranties. Makes it more competitive which is good for consumers. Allows ATI to avoid handling warranty claims directly, etc.

ATi/nVidia make core chip, sell it to BFG, Powercolor, etc, they add all the other stuff and sell it.

Different coolers. However when a new GPU is released, most companies just go with the reference design.

Dude, they can't change the specs of the cards. They can change things like Core speed or memory speed/type (DDR2, DDR3, etc), but they can't change the core of the chip (memory bus, shader numbers, ROPs, etc)

AMD and nVidia make the chips, these brands just sell them.

Think of it like a car engine: it's made by one large group (like GM) and then sold to other car makers. Different cars, same engine. Get it?

Can you imagine how much video cards would be if there were only one company making them?

Completely incorrect analogy. GM makes the entire car and gives it different names. Nvidia/ATI just make the chips and the companies like XFX and ASUS add the rest of the components, like the PCB, VRMs, memory, etc.
