Yes, you can. BUT, do you play any PhysX enabled games is the real question? Not too many of 'em.

Sweet. So I can pop in one of the 8800's alongside my GTX295?

Not willing to part with them just yet

Sure can! You can only use one of them for PhysX, though. Meaning you'll still have an 8800 left over

Alpha as f**k. I'll be trying this out when I fly home to the UK.

How in the world can you hold 2 different video cards in 2 slots eventhough they are not sli'd ? Wouldn't that cause no boot ups? Don't they suppose to have same clocks and brand? I'm confused here.. i have a GTS 250 in my pc and a xfx 9800 gt in the box, i wonder if i can use both but i'm still considering getting the same card to go SLi anyways. i need to sell my xfx 9800 gt and 8600 gt since they are still brand new.

I did this and had lower benchmarking results then using the GTX 295 on its own. I also tried a dedicated PhysX card, and found just running a GTX 295 and letting it run PhysX to work the best. But again, that was only with benchmarking, and I could see no visual difference in game play using dedicated PhysX over letting the GTX 295 handle it.

Ok. That's interesting, and point taken. I'll still try it anyway. Nothing to lose.

TBH I don't really dig benching, and in this example it'll prove even less than normal. I certainly don't expect it to hurt games, but I'm open to the possibility.

You only need the same GPU if you're running in SLI.
