Dude Hemlock will be atleast $600-$700, that's not the same price range. I would just save some money and get an HD5850 or HD5770 because of DX11.

get the sapphire one stock overclocked, and i believe it's one of the best ATI distributors like others have said, go xfx if you go green

I predict the prices will drop phenomenally in the next few months.
Wait for Fermi for even more price drops, if you can. If not just grab the 5770.

So does the Sapphire card have a VGA and a DVI port? 'Cus I'm a dual monitor freak
![]() And I'll be picking up the card for Christmas. If Fermi comes out before then, I'll pickup a 5770.

If you are going to choose between only those two cards and you say you don't care about Physx, then there is only one option.
The 4890 is quite a bit more powerful than the gtx260 and has higher overclocking potential. No brainer. Also, I second going DX11. When you buy, if the price is right, grab a 5770. Windows 7 and a DX11 capable card is going to be THE gaming setup in the next year.

Now for the OP. If you can find a 4890 for the same price as a GTX 260, that's an awesome deal. Definitely get the 4890. I was just checking pricewatch and it looks like GTX 260s have gone up in price actually.

This is hillarious... I was at work thinking the same thing - about getting a gtx260 or a 4890, I even have the same two links pulled up that you have in your original post because I found them to peak my interest the most, but took note of the xfx card sucking.
__________________Anyways I currently have an 8800gts (the 512mb one) that my bestfriend gave me to replace my 8800gts 640mb card. I really do not need the best of the best but am totally new to ati cards, BUT seeing as how the 4890 is right in the middle of the gtx 260 and gtx 275, how can I not consider it? Especially when the SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 4890 is around the same price as the gtx 260. But I am upgrading to windows 7 soon and as it supports dx11, why not get a dx11 card? But after seeing this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...70,2446-7.html - it shows the 5770 (only affordable dx11 card at the moment) performing worse than the 4890, so why upgrade to the 5770 and not to the 4890? I dont need top of the line but want to keep the card around for a while if I can help it. Lastly I dont need or want two cards, so anything sli or x2/crossfired (whatever they call it) is out of the question. Ideas? Advice?

@OP I would get the 4890 over a 260 ANY day. When you overclock them heavily they can perform on par with my card.
