5770 for features like dx11 and eyefinity, way better power consumption and heat output, and it's the best scaling card evah.
![]() a gtx260 maybe a little bit faster, but the 5770 is currently with no-official drivers yet, and should be able to beat the 4870, gtx260 and possibly a 4890 in the long run. and for the record, that gtx260 is a 192 core, about 10-15% slower than the 216 version, and it's with a hotter and more power consuming 65nm process. /thread

Stick with your HD4850 1GB until you can afford a better card, so that you really do notice an increase.

I would do what acoma said, cause thats not much of an upgrade. I always try and get atleast a solid 40% improvement each time I buy a card, So Im waiting for the 5890 and the next NV series.
I would try and save up some more and get the 5850 if I was you.

Congrats on comparing a decent card with the fastest.
You're saying Accord > Camery but Ferrari > Accord Good comparison.

The two come close in performance, but the GTX 260 seems to win ever so slightly on most game benchmarks. That being said, the 5770 consumes less power and, most importantly, features a single 6 pin PCI-E connector whereas you are going to need two for the GTX 260. If you want to sli/crossfire later on, you're going to need a total of 4 PCI-E connectors with the GTX 260, whereas the 5770s in CF will only set you back two. From the looks of your sig rig, it seems that you'll probably be running something like 500-600W power supply, and most of those only feature two 6pin connetors, so you'd be able to CF the 5770s later on whereas you'll be stuck with one GTX 260 for lack of connetors.
That's my 2 cents.

5770
Pros: Shorter than GTX 260 40nm -- Less power consumption & only needs 1 6-pin pci-e connector DX11 Great overclockability 1GB VRAM (versus 896 on GTX 260 --not much difference, I know) Great crossfire scaling (depends if the game scales well, though) Cons: Lower performance than 260 on average (before overclocking of either) Stock cooler can be loud under load GTX 260 Core 216 Pros: Great at Folding@home PhysX (if that's your cup of tea )Stereoscopic 3D (need a 120hz monitor, though) Good stock coolers Better performance that 5770 on average (before overclocking of either) Cons: 55nm -- Higher power consumption & needs 2 6-pin pci-e power connectors Longer than 5770 DX10 Personally, I'd go with the 5770 (and save up to crossfire another one), or you could save up for the 5850. Future-proof purchase. Hope this helps.
