5770 isn't as good as the GTX260, but the 5870 is.

Just went through this with a friend as I built his new comp last weekend for him. We went with the GTX 260 as it out performs the 5770 by a good deal and the 5770 doesn't even have enough power to make DX 11 games truly shine in the future. Would rather have more power in DX10 now and upgrade to DX11 when the prices of the better cards come down.

We got the eVGA GTX 260 896MB Superclocked edition for like 200 bucks Canadian. He pulls over 12k in vantage with an i5 750 just to quantify.

everyone has given you good advice, the GTX260 is a faster card. I think they're still offering FarCry2 and a free copy of 3Dmark06 with some of the cards.
