Hey all, I've got myself in a real headache here. Basically after 10 mins of playing anything my fps drops down to around 15-30 from 80 fps in AION, 100-250 in CSS and 60-150 in TF2. It also becomes very very choppy even when displaying an alright 45 fps.

It's the same with my 9600GT and HD 4770, both up to date drivers. Now at times CSS and Aion fail to load. I'm pretty sure its not my cards as they both work fine in other systems.

I've got my eye on my RAM but it passed MEMTEST no problem.

I've also thought it may be my board cutting bandwidth for some odd reason although I do not know how to monitor this.

My last thought is that its a bug in W7 and I will install xp on a spare partition to find this out.

Also could my power supply cause this?

Any tips before I waste any more time on failed diagnostics.

(btw all stock clocks and great temps)

Very wierd :S

Perhaps the northbridge is getting hot or something? Not sure if that would cause the pc to slow down but I cant think of much lol. Other than that id say it was memory doing something funky but not sure what or how to fix...

Just changed the memory to ADATA. I'll test it now.

I changed my memory and.... same thing on both cards... seems to be either power supply or cpu or mobo. My bets on mobo tbh.

It seems to take longer to do this from saying leaving the system cool down. If I start css or tf2 it'll most likely do it right away.

I'm thinking of doing a quick re-install just in-case its 7 but I highly doubt it. If I remember right I accidentally left on a memory/cpu stress test while gaming the other night and this I think started to happen then. Now either that had bad effects on the cpu/board (not ram as checked) or the psu. But realy prime isn't there to damage the system, more test stability.

I second heat being the culprit.
Sounds like something's not getting enough air or too much voltage. Do you have a monitoring program like Everest you can check temps and volts with?

I think its the ram bays. Do you think one could have been damaged during some heat? It seems that this frame drop only happens when the system taps into the second 2GB ram. No matter which one I use. I have moved both ram chips into the red slots instead of yellow. Off to tf2 /fingers crossed.

Try removing one DIMM or ram and going from there
or else, run Prime95 on high TFT's for maximum ram use of MemTest 86

Alright it seems it was a board fault. Got me a G31M-ES2L from work and booted as if direct replacement . Feels good!
