I'm done with spending any of my own money for a while so I won't be doing the trade off maneuver (as much as I like the idea). I think the best advice for this new build right now is just to wait and see. I could probably talk my cousin into the 58xx but they're as scarce as the 275 & 285 apparently... leaving me with two real options:

1. Wait till sometime in Nov, perhaps black friday, when we can get the card that we want.
2. Get a gtx 260 and sli if necessary.

I'm not the kind of guy to recommend paying the price premium on cutting edge tech... in 6mo these 58xx cards are going to look like garbage in all likelihood.
