Default gtx 380 release date Nov. 27th 2009

I got to talk to one of the developers over at THQ this morning and it appears they have a working nvidia gtx 380 that they are and have been useing to develop dx11 games with and I was given a expected release date. I asked for any proof of the release date and was refered to 2 sites but this was the only one that did not say Q4 2009.

In a nutshell I was told they want to hit the market with their highest end card on black friday and that nvidia expects the same type of market it created in 2007 with the 8800gt release.

take it for what it's worth with a grain of salt, but I wanted to pass the word on. If this release date holds true it may be worth the wait to see how the card compares to the 5870 and go from there. If anything the price on ATI cards will have dropped by then if nvidia can get the cards on the market that is.

Hope it's reasonably priced, but knowing nvidia it won't be.

$800 is wishful thinking

With the most hyped card on black friday, it will be anything but reasonable.

Thats great, except .. I don't want the £1k fermi card, I will most likely get the GTX360 if the naming is the same as the 200 series that is (GTX260/GTX280).

I will refuse to spend over £300 on a single GPU. =p

Anybody that legitimately believes the card will be $800 or $700 is an idiot, plain and simple, or they are just saying it to try and smear nvidia to propagate their own agenda.

My guess is that it will be around $549 to $599, with price to drop slightly in the weeks and months following release.

Yes, it will be more expensive than the 5870, but it will also be considerably faster for 3D rendering and GPGPU.

Even if it performs similarly or even slightly better than the competitions dual GPU solution?

$5 says the GTX380 is just a rebranded GTX280.
