Yeah, I used 70%, it just takes a little bit more force to wipe off TIM.

When removing any thermal interface, make sure NONE of it leaves the surface of said chip. Some thermal interfaces, such as Arctic Silver 5, (my personal preference)

Are conductive and WILL fry your chip.

IF you do have some over the edges, all you can do is TAKE YOUR SOCKS OFF ****, and carefully Q-tip and kleenex over it, trying to remove that sticky blob-of-a-mess you just made.

Just make sure that you dont leave fuzzys from the q-tip on the chip, they may...err...catch fire. xD

If you have lighter fluid lying around, use that instead. Puts Isopropl to shame in gunk removal, evaporates extremely quickly and leaves absolutely no residue.

Also, never heard of putting the GPU face down either. There's a video posted here on OCN about it in the Nvidia section.

I use acetone myself.

I use that stuff in Chem, and hey, it works! Why change a good thing?

And to the OP: You might want to edit your title, as it reads "How to make a videocard.

Two things:
- do not heat the oven over 220°C, you'll fry the card
- do not by any means place the card with the GPU facing down - the soldering can melt and parts can fall off the card; place the card will all the parts facing up so that they don't fall even though the solder is melted.

Hope it helps.
