As for upgrading the CPU that board does not support anything above 5600+. So getting a 6000+ is not a smart thing to do, and you will need to update the BIOS for any other upgrade. A 5600+ or a 5200+ 65W processor, and a ATI HD 4830 512MB will do for what you want to do with it.

I've used a set-up with a AMD4600+, 2GB RAM and a ATI4850-512MB. And it ran all games of 2008 without a fuss maxed on 1440*900.

1. The user is new to the forum. (be nice)
2. The user is less active, and/or has other/better things to do.
3. The user does not spam, but makes meaningful and helpful posts/threads.
Therefore this has nothing to do with a users; experience, knowledge or skill. So don't judge him/her by it.

I'm curious where you saw the 6000+ is not supported? On Biostar's website the supported cpu list page was a dead link.

Edit: NM, found it on the international site.

Biostar TForce TF520-A2 mobo

He wants to upgrade the cpu and gpu. He games at 1440x900 mainly playing source mods and a few other games like COD4.

I think we are going with the Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (3.0GHz) $55 so we need a video card that will be a good bang for the buck upgrade for $100. I'm thinking either a 4850 or GTS 250. Any other suggestions?
GTS 250. I have two in SLi and they beat a GTX 285 in all the games I play. A GTS 250 @ 1680x1050 maxed out CoD4 and CoD:WaW on my monitor. A single card for your 1440x900 would be perfect!

Cheers!
