Default Replacing thermalpaste on 8800GTX. Tutorial?

Hey there. I know I'm going to get a bunch of people telling me to google this but I have honestly been looking for two days. I'm really busy at work and may not have had the time to find it.

I had one a couple of months ago favourited but I reformated.

I'm looking for a tutorial to take apart the 8800gtx and where to apply thermalpaste. I'm doing a huge cleanup this weekend, shop vac and all.

Any help would be awesome

Just unscrew the screws on the back. (Make sure you get all of them) Then take off the heatsink/shroud. Next, get some Rubbing Alcohol and Q-Tips and use that to clean off the GPU (the big thing covered in grey goop). Then re apply some good TIM and put the heatsink back on.

Not advertising or anything, but one of my GPU Heatsink reviews has a pretty good description and set of pictures.

Zalman VF900-Cu Ultra Quiet Heatpipe VGA Cooler

Hope this helps.

TIM?

Thermal Insulating Material or something?
What do you think of Arctic Silver 5?

And what about the ram? Don't I have to apply some to that aswell?

Thermal paste

AS5 is good, but I prefer OCZ FreeZe. Yep, you will want some thermal paste on the memory as well. My standard technique is to clean the GPU/memory, and then put a little blob about the size of a grain of rice on each memory chip and the GPU core

Arctic Silver 5 (AS5) or OCZ Freeze would be good.

No you don't need to apply TIM to the ram.

Okay, So one says NO to TIM on the RAM. and one of you says YES to TIM on the RAM.

!! Confusion ! I thought that the video cards had some sort of adhesive TIM on the ram that was removable if paste was preferred. Not sure how accurate my information is ><
