Default Cheap video card for uncle (~$50-)

Title says it. Basically my uncle's video card was messing up (8300gs, I didn't hear the whole story, personally I think it might be fixable) and he wants to buy a new one. He's using integrated graphics now. He doesn't game or do anything graphics intensive, so basically just a cheap graphics card that won't go out on him. I guess passive cooling would be a plus, but not a requirement. Just wanted to know what the best out there is for the price. He said less than 50, but he would be willing to spend more if necessary.

Honestly, I thought integrated graphics would be enough, but he seemed to want to replace it.

Thanks for the help

Try gunning for a 384MB 9600GSO. They can sometimes be had for ~$40.

If not, try getting a HD4670, it doesn't require a power connector.

Since he's not going to be gaming though, you could get something like a 9400GT/9500GT, that'd run fine.

I would convince him to save his money and try the integrated for a while and see what he thinks. If it is that bad, then get another one but honestly he should be fine. I found a 8400GS for $20 at a staples in the clearance section. Picked it up just for a backup video card.

I'd go with a 9500GT aswell.

OT: Here, locally the 384MB 9600GSO sells for $97.00

Thanks guys, I appreciate the suggestions. I'll try to get him to stick with integrated, but if not I know about what to get now. Thanks
