Smile Which Video Card?

Hey guys!

I have the choice of these two video cards:
  • Sapphire ATI -HD 5870 - 1 GB DDR5
  • EVGA - GTX 260 - Super Clocked - 896 MB DDR3

So which is best and what size (Watts) power supply would i need?

And is there a better manufacturer of these video cards (Zotac, Palit, BFG, etc)

I am buying this in India in December...

Here are the converted prices on the website (www.theitwares.com):
  • EVGA - GTX 260 Superclocked - RS 14850 or $316

or
  • Sapphire ATI -HD 5870 - 1 GB DDR5 - RS 17650 or $376

Thanks for any advice!!!!!!

I think you should get the 5870 because it is DX11

Wow.... should'nt even be comparing the two..... 5870 no questions will slaughter a 260, even beat 2x260's in SLI in some benchmarks.....

The 5870 kills a 260 superclocked.
The 5870 even uses less power.
Get the 5870.
You shouldn't need that big of a PSU either.
The 5870 only uses 188 watts at max load.

If there aren't any games that run directX11 (mind you many that still don't run directx 10)

I would go with the 5870 for the simple fact that it will run better then the 260 (more bang for your buck). BTW don't buy a superclocked card, you can always go in and use the EVGA precision tool to overclock your card.

The power supply you need also depends on what else your running on your computer. use this: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

wow... thanks guys!!

how about the HD 5850? Coz its a bit cheaper... Will it still do?

Will I be able to play games like COD4 maxed out?? (by the way... i don't really need Anti-Aliasing)

BTW the price for the HD 5870 is incorrect, its actually: RS 25950 or $553

And the price for the HD 5850 is: RS 17650 or $376

Do you think that they are ripping me off? Or is it the actual price?

A 260 can easily max cod 4 @1920x1080, get that 5850 you will have no problems....

That 260 does seem to be expensive in comparrison to the other cards though....

A 5850 (let alone a 5870), will destroy a gtx260 hands down. yeah you'd be hard pressed to find a game (cept Crysis of course) that really realistically challenges a 5850 or a 5870. COD4 isn't that graphics intensive of a game in general. A 5850 will do you wonders bro, buy it
