Default GTX 260 becoming the new 8800 GT?

It is just me or, after only 1 year, the 260 is pretty much in the same zone as the 8800gt was last year? I made my sig computer last year and bought the 1st 8800gt for 160.

Now a year later the 260 is the same price and is talked about almost ALL the time as the "budget but high-end Graphics solution" amirite?

basically that's correct. The gtx 260 is now considered high end mainstream. However a lack of new offerings from nVidia and the ATI production crunch means that the 260 will probably stay in this position for quite some time, at least the next 6-9 months.

Yeah, pretty much. Everyone seems to recommend it when asking about for high end cards with a good shot on price and quality. Only complaint with it is the damn coil squeal (had it worse on my first card, then I RTMed it and this one does it, but not as loudly).

But yes, it seems to be the standard for mainstream high-end cards atm. Agreed on that.

The Radeon 5770 seems to be quite popular. Two of them in crossfire is more powerful than the 5870 offering while being around $50-$75 cheaper.

You do realize I was replying to someone who said something about an ATI card?

haven't seen you contribute anything good for discussion yet though

Just getting my 9800GT's for SLI this coming weekend. So jealous when everyone's already @ that level of performance.
