when you use the pencil...do you shade over the resistor, or around it on the PCB? also, how many times did you go over? and do i want the graphite dust on there?

\

I use a combination of both...blow the dust away gently...measure the resistor for effective change...tape over it when done. Fire it up to verify the voltage adjusment.

*15ohms should = ~.5v of change

ool, i got more volts to my Core, and i am at 730Mhz...but my problem is that no matter how much i shade the resistir for the memory, i cant get past 775Mhz...i went up to 2.2v, and it still wont budge...any reason why?

Yes..its the RAM IC's used for your rev.# card. Look at the model number on the RAM IC's and look them up. My 7600gs has RAM rated for 700mhz, so vmod'ing the mem only got me to ~750mhz...thats already 50mhz past the dealer spec for max freq.

Flashing the BIOS with a new timing set can help to gain extra mhz..but is tedious and requires some extra effort.

*Also be careful exceeding 2.2v , that is typically the rated maximum for current through the IC control chip. Smoking that results in arties 24/7 no matter what the clock speed on the mem.

whats interesting is that i did some looking around, and i have the K4J52324QC-BJ11 chips... that are meant to run 900Mhz at 2v...and i cant even get 800Mhz at 2v...whats up with that? and yes, the timings are the same as the ones in the smasung PDF

You verified your timings through NiBitor..er something?
---------

You might need to cool the IC controller. I will see if I can find a pic...its the small 8-12 leg IC near the vmem pencil mod area.

You need to remeber these cards also draw their power through the board, so if you trying to give it voltage that's not there, it wont work

Change the timings around also, that could hamper the overclock. Look up some on google for your chips.
And cool that IC!

True, but I am not the only one to get 1.7vgpu/and 2.2vmem out of a 7600..so obviously there is plenty more room to go with voltage supply.

Your timing set is probably just a tight one. Voltage will only help, until timings need to be loosened for more speed.

true but you both have different PSU's and motherboard designs. My DFI NF4 would only let me get to 1.6v/2v maxed out but my sapphire let me hit 1.8v/2.4v... and now I have a 8600 :V
