are they Reference Design cards, or non-Reference like my card? if so, then you need another connect points and different VR's..

and to check the connections, set the VR to some level, and measure it with a multimeter, then measure the original resistance on the card between the 2 points, then do the mod, and while computer turned off, measure the resistance between the 2 connect points on the VR, and on the PCB, and if ANY of the readings are same, the the connections are bad..

it would be better also if you got some pics of the card(s) while modded and/or unmodded

im not sure what you mean by reference design cards but my GTS is EVGA, and my friend has a EVGA GT and a BFG GT. and what im saying is that it wont go any higher than 1.17 and 1.2 under stress. that wont let me go any higher than my previous best 795 core even on stock

by Reference- or Non-Reference -design i mean the design, it can be a 8800GTS or a 8800GT and dont look like other 8800GT or 8800GTS's.. like my card is Non-Reference (you can look back here for pics)

and the voltage depends on the resistance, so its important to know the resistances..! less resistance = more voltage, and more resistance = less voltage

also make sure you try turning it enough.. for me, i had to turn it allot before it moved anywhere from 1.2V

You did measure the VR? Set your multimeter to resistance (2000) then turn it one way. You should see that the resistance on the VR go either up or down. Make sure you write down which way you turn it to lower the resistance. As Micro said less resistance = more voltage. Now do the mod and while lowering the resistance measure the voltage. It takes a couple turns at the beginning to get of stock voltage. Just remember not to go to high. Best of luck

it is a reference card. and i have turned it prolly a total of 700 times over the past 3 days and I have notice that with both pots (i bought 2 to see if that was the problem) i can only go to about 1.172 then it goes down to 1.15 and slowly raises back to 1.172 as i turn it. my pots are the 1k ones from radio shack. is that the one u used?

i appreciate the help but i i have been measuring it and it only gets to 1.17 right at boot. do i measure it at boot or in stress to see the volts? and which vr did u get? the one from radio shack?

Once you have everything attached just turn the knob on the vr to lower resistance and you, as a result, you get more voltage.
