For me it goes sometimes up and then down and again up, but if i keep turning it, i can get it to go where i want

and as my card is Non-Reference, i had to use a bit different VR.. 1kOhm are the right ones for the reference, but for my Non-Reference card i had to use 20kOhm.. 1kOhm would had fried my card

hmm.. did you try turning it all the way to both ends?
also make sure that the VR is not broken.. disconnect it and measure the resistance, and see if you can get it from about 1000 Ohm (1kOhm) to almost 0 Ohm

it doesnt stop turning for me or for my friend. it seems to keeep going and going. or does it require massive amounts of tunning to reach the end? is the radio shack one suppose to stop tunning?

i dont know, as i dont have one.. try disconnecting it and measure the resistance with a multimeter, and see if it stops changing the resistance after some turning..

edit:
if you are using this, then it shoulds turn 15 times fully around to reach both ends

back to stock? i suppose that increases the resistance.. try turning it the other way

i am the friend keeep out keeps talking about. i cant get this to work at all, it does nothing, i just left the mod on my card because it is not doing any harm. me and keep out both have reference boards. i have followed the instructions to a dime and am getting frustrated! i have my cards water cooled so i never go above 44C under load, my current oc is 780/1900/2000. i am just thinking about doing a resistor replacement, but if i kill a card i prob wont be able to coax them into thinking "it just died".....
