bumsoil- make sure you are making full contact withe the VR and the contact points...try putting pressure on the part where you taped it down to see if you get any voltage increase

you need to apply pressure on the points. use foam blocks and electrical tape thats stretched over the foam and wraped around the entire card.

I'm going to try this for my eVGA GTS but I'm at work right now so I'm not sure if it's reference board or not. Are all eVGA 8800 GTS reference boards or are some reference and some not?

Nvm about that, is it true that it's better to use a 500 Ohm VR instead of a 1k because you can fine tune it better?

it depends on the original resistance.. i had to use a 20000 ohm resistor because my original resistance were pretty high

Well...I think I may have to give this a try....

Will the stock cooler be enough to do a slight vmod on a GTS 512 by eVGA? I thought that cooling was holding the card back from hitting higher clocks. I heard that above 55*C on the memory causes it to become unstable when overclocking...hence the need for aftermarket coolers.

Anyway, I may just give this a shot when funds become available for the required tools. Worse case scenario...a good excuse to upgrade my cooler on the GPU .
