by soldering.. you can check the connections with a multimeter.. first make sure you turn off the computer completely, and then measure the resistance with and without to see if the connection works.. make sure you dont have anything turned on on the GPU or you will destroy your multimeter

Ok I tried this last night but nothing happened when I attached the VR to the card. I took voltage readings without the VR and I got 1.11V idle and 1.17V load. This is with the stock BFG bios. Ive only updated the drivers for my cards.

Im getting about 350 ohms when checked with a multimeter.

see how many ohms you get with and without the VR.. also, are you sure you turned the VR enough?

My readings dont change when I have it attached to the board if thats what you mean. I get 350ohms installed or removed from the GPU.

I can turn the VR and see the resistance changing on the multimeter so I know the VR is good. I just cannot get the mod to work.

are you sure the VR makes good contact with the solderings on the GPU?

Ill triple check tonight and ill even take macro pics if it helps any.
Solder points to check the GPU core were easy and work just fine. Now I just have to get this VR going.

Ok I got it working. Seems it was two things.
1. I had the VR grounded to the middle PCI-E ground. Turns out you cannot use that one. I moved it over one and it works fine.
2. The wire that was taped over wasnt making good contact. The volt mod only worked when I put my finger on the wire and pressed down.

So ive since moved the GND wire and im going to get rid of all that silly electrical tape and solder it like a real man.

Ive upped both cards from 1.11V to 1.25V using this mod.

if you look, the middle ground wire dont go anywhere usefull

and i had exactly same problem as that "not making contact" i fixed it by bending the wire much downwards and then tape it ~2cm away from the solder joint so it kept the pressure on

but good to hear you got it working
