I was removing my vmod from my 8800GTS, and I think when I used the solder removal tool I waited too long between heating up the solder and sucking it up with the removal tool.....(ie, miniscule metal contact on board got sucked up as well), because the monitor wont turn on with it plugged in
. I'm about to attempt to put a small blob of solder down where I "think" the missing contact is, but wether that will work or not I dont know. ANY input at all (other than criticism) would be greatly appreciated.

Im no expert on what you're trying to do, so im not entirely clear with it.. but is there a way you could find a high resolution picture of someone's identical card, and make sure the modifications you've made match the original design of the board? Either from a member here, or from a picture on the internet?

It seems you MAY have fried a part on the card.

Im just on my way out, but here are a couple high res shots of the 8800 gts 320 and 640. The first is the 320mb (look on the stickers on the picture to determine) and the second is the 640. Maybe these will help somehow..

no no, I did not try to do the wrong vmod LOL the vmod worked, I was undoing it because I wanted to get better cooling than the stock on the GTS before using the vmod day to day usage. basically the solder was almost hard when I sucked it up wtih the desoldering thingy, and tiny metal contact came off wth the solder. (so small only reason I noticed it is cuz there was no longer a little silver spot like on my other GTS).
BUT, I have now declared myself GOD among men! lol. ie, luckily there were 3 other contact points for the core voltage surrounding that one that came off, so my big uncoordinated blob of solder that I slapped on the 4 (well 3) of them, managed to do the trick! card works! woot! |

Congratulations! Did you learn your lesson? Adjust voltage through ATI Tool or BIOS next time

Yes I learned my lesson.....but in all fairness, you cant increase the voltage of G92 chips through bios or ntunes. except for the 8800GT but can only increase it to 1.1V from 1.05, and the GTS is 1.17V stock, so unless I was undervolting it, bios cannot change voltage on the GTS.
