Ok, right now my 4850 is at 1.33v on load, but the temperatures are pretty much outrageous at anything above 750 mhz. I know that people have achieved higher clocks than that at lower voltages, and i'm thinking that if I drop the voltage, i'll be able to overclock more because the temperatures will be lower. Is this logic correct?

Well, all that I know is that a higher voltage provides a more stable overclock. I read a great guide to cpu voltage that should apply to gpu's also, I'll post it when I find it.

100c, but that's not on the gpu-z temp #1, it's on temp #2, and temp 3 gets up in the 80s.
By the way, before you tell me that #2 is vrm's and #3 is memory, they are not. They are memory io and shader core.

Yep, but now one of the screws is broken, so I can't seat it totally perfectly. I used a hacksaw to make a workaround so that it's fairly snug, but i'm going to need to buy some new screws from someone.

hmm perhaps that's what's wrong with it....
![]() maybe more thermal paste to seal the gap would help, that or insulate and heat up your temps further.
