Default 8800GTX VoltMod

Is there any FULL - throughout - Step-by-step guide for an 8800GTX mod. There are so many frikken ways to do it and majority of them are only pictures that don't show much.

Little things like what the VR should be set to and crap like that would help me out sooo much. I understand all the soldering, I just am having second thoughts about the VR settings and how I should go about doing it.

As long as your card is a reference PCB [Evga, should be] then its pretty simple. All 8800 series on reference PCB's are the same GPUv mod. Only difference is the GTX has a resistor on the mod location..GS/GT's do not.

Before you solder the VR in, you need to set it to 500ohms [or max, cause you should be using a 500ohm VR]. You will not be able to read resistance properly once installed. After you solder it in..check your connections for continuity. If all is well, go for a boot test.

As far as grounding points go..there are a plethora of them and no single location is better than another.

..Let me know if you need some help, I enjoy vmod'ing GPU's. Check meh new 3d 06 for my 8800GS.

I have 1k ohm VRs. I'll set them to 500 (.50 on my multimeter)the same way correct?

The only bad thing about the 1k is that it is less precise than a 500 is. For example I turn my VR ~1/4 turn to increase voltage ~.12v ..using a 1k you will be twice that in the same amount of movement..so turn slow..and dont slip.

You PCB should be the exact same as the one in the pic..

Purple points are to read GPUv
Blue points are ground.
