Default Successfull 8800GTS 512mb voltmod

First ever volt mod on anything really so I was extremely apprehensive about tinkering around inside the computer. Just in the process of overclocking it further now and heres some "in the process" pictures.

Tools of the trade :}

Kinda failed at this, but it works so i'm happy

Apologies for bluriness, 3MP camera and bad lighting.

Will post once I've reached the new overclocking limits! Thanks go to TheSubtleKnife for the help posted in this thread http://www.overclock.net/graphics-ca...-gts-volt.html. <3

PS. Anyone know the safe voltages for this card? What is the max I can raise the voltages to?

Cant really see anything..[having bad eyes doesnt help much either ] Running it on stock cooling, I would not go much beyond ~1.3v ...make sure you have the fan locked to 100% for the GPU cooler.

Good luck on your benchies..and PLEASE post the results to the HWBot thread for Team OCN. We could really use some good point increases. Good modding

Ta, currently stressing out and the temps are only 55 with already pretty high clocks and fan set at 70% so its looking good for the temperatures.

Yes I did get an increase in performance because I am able to overclock a LOT higher even with such a small increase in volts and Yes it is worth it because its been a learning experience and it's not really damaging my card.

Vmodding allowed me to increase my core clock freq, by over 300mhz and shader clock freq, by over 400mhz. The difference in performance between my vmod'd 8800GS and my stock 8800GT is ~300 points on 3D 06'. It used to be a ~4k point difference, with both GPU's at stock. So, YES..vmod'ing does indeed provide increases.

*My GS is still on stock cooling as well @ 1.21v idle and ~1.27v load..temps stay under 65c in the middle of the day, when stress testing.
