You can add a switch to the VR if you want. I think I saw a pic somewhere around here of someone doing that. I even think he wired the switch to the outside of the case.

Seems stable limits on air have a little to do with the way the core and shader straps are on the 2xx series GPU's.... they are no longer totally free of each other, and are much more dependent on one another..similar to the way memory dividers on older chipset mobo's used to adjust MCH latency and boot strap..

*long story short.. stable limits on air will be ~1500mhz for shaders as a max and ~2600mhz mem ...

will the memory boost help, or should I step up to the gtx285 then to the vmod?

Most users with the 280's are getting clock speeds beyond that of the 285... so, I would say, its a waste of $$ to purchase the 285 at all.

**Yes, increased mem speeds are crucial if you game over 1440x900... they will improve FPS with Q features enabled [helping eliminate bottleneck on the GPU]

Default 3x 8800GT's for Jarble: GPUv and vMEM

Some new additions to Jarble's arsenal of folding GPU's.. Just thought I would share some of the progress...GPU's just arrived this afternoon

*I will be completing GPUv and vMEM mods on 2x EVGA 8800GT's, and 1x XFX 8800GT... as well as installing vmeasure points for easy access for voltage monitoring when installed.

A few shots of the EVGA's with completed GPUv and vmeasure's installed, for MEM and GPU voltage... gotta pickup some more 20k's for vMEM mods, on saturday..will be completing the XFX then too.

..more pics to come, as things get wrapped this weekend

j/w, is it possible to make a vmod that can be a switch, a set voltage, and stock
flip a switch for stock, flip for vmod?
if so, would you have to shutdown to flip to vmod?
