I can not take credit for this one, just wanted to share the info. I have run out of conductive ink so I can not finish mine til new comes in. But these guys have had much success bringing the vGpu up from 1.18 to 1.26-1.33 with just a conductive pen and pencil.
I am working on trying just the pencil mod to see what it can do without the pen mod. as of right now I have not been able to bring resistance down to 350.. Original Thread @ XS this is 6 pages in so alot of testing has been done by these guys. Quote:
Anyone wonder certain questions here you go. you DO NOT need do do all three steps, if you notice each step raises voltage, so you can use conductive ink and a pencil, both are removable. I myself am a tad bit nervous when it come to a solpdering gun and a 375$ card. So I will leave that to the pros. I will be posting my tests and results in the next day or 2..... Update for OCP Mod. Well as of right now I have manged to get vGpu up to 1.28 from its factory set 1.18, however the gains have been minimal. From 725c to 756c, the shader wont budge, but I am not sure any additional voltage is going to the shader anyway.
Temps have not been affected very much from this if anyone is wondering, still see a high of 72c in game.... **EDIT** Well I am at a wall it seems... Not sure if its my card or not, but I cant get stable even at 1.28v, I am back at stable OC and 1.20v If anyone else try's this mod pleas let me know your results...

If I remember correctly, I believe the core and shader on this card play a lot to do with each other then they have with other cards. The trick to shader clock is low temps.
GJ, on your work though. BTW, I just had a run of luck with my 9600GT. ![]() http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...Will/hwbot.jpg

Subbed. I did a circuit writer pen vmod back in the day on my 7900gt. Curious for more results.

As of right now I am at a wall... The volt mod does indeed work, as I used conductive paint (rear window defogger kit) and shaded the resistor with a #2 6B pencil and got the desired results of 1.33vGpu.
However my wall is that increase of any OC is null. It appears as stated by Pizza that the card is heat sensitive when it comes to overclocking. I still can not raise my clock speeds without getting crashes/lock ups.. On a brighter note, on water a couple guys over at XS are breaking 800/1800 with this mod, so it seems if we can cool it down a bit it will allow for a higher OC. Note* This mod on the resistors with ink/paint is just mimicing the FTW/SSC models of the card and giving it an extra .1vGpu under load, so dont expect major gains. If you already have a good clocking card (700 and up) you may not see any results. Shading the resistor will only give an extra .06vGpu at load so these are not major voltage mods, these cards run 1.16 - 1.18 normally...

Makes you wonder why Nvidia don't do this from the factory

Heat is why. If you put these cards in a case with minimal air flow it would burn up and increase their RMA rate.
My biggest problem with nVidia and these GTX cards is the fact that they are still using DDR3, which is bottlenecking these cards when you start doing some real OCing.

Seems a few folks have managed to increase VID too..upping OVP limit. This will be wonderful for a watercooled setup..and some screaming high core speeds.

Hey fellas, got a question about volt modding.
Can I use any conductive Paint/ink? Or is there something specific...like to keep the card safe or something?
