Default Overvolting + Watercooling @ 8800GT SLI

Hi everybody:

Well, I'm planning to go water also on my two 8800GTs of Point of View. But... the waterblocks cost me around €160. Too pricey for a relatively old card.

So... if I can voltmod the videocard (mod it for a lot of voltage more) how much extra performance in games can I await? I hope then it's worth it's price, so, would you do it? What you think?

Btw, any personal experience voltmodding 8800GTs? Clocks, differences?

Any help is well receieved

You should get a non full cover block that fits many cards like the MCW-60 and D-Tek fuzion gfx.

Preety poor ones. 675 core and 1650 shader, and crashing on GRID and Warhead.

Btw, I thought on DTek GFX before but... it's enough? There are more things to cool beside the GPU, as memory chips and some other things, what I can do with em?

For the memory chips and other things, you can buy used iandh heatsinks here for $15 each.

And spend €160 at total on something that won't push me too far than 5-10FPS more on Crysis (for example)...

I think it's better to buy a new card (or a new SLI) and, if possible, go water on it.

What about a EVGA GTX 295? It's possible to voltmod it by Software...

To answer your Q from the OP- Water + mods on a G92 core can = up to ~30% performance increase.

Here is screen shot of one of my golden 8800GS's vmod'd and chilled...watercooled, it runs ~840core/2052shaders/1055mem for daily use and folding.

You could pickup a set of IandH's RAM/VRM syncs, and an MCW-60 (or Fuzion v2) for pretty cheap and volt mod it pretty nicely.

With the 1.1 BIOS Vmod and Duorb cooling my 8800GT could do about 675 mhz. With 1.3-1.35 volts I could easily do 800 mhz core, 2,000mhz shader.

Memory however you won't be able to budge above 1,000 mhz, even with massive volt mods you won't get any where above 1,050mhz ish.
