Sorry to hear this Bkpizza.
__________________I applaud you for finding the right chip and correct pins. Yes, pin 3 is the correct ground pin from which to measure. It is often hard to place two probes in such tight places so an alternative is to measure the ground pin, then vout and subtract (not as accurate but close enough). You are correct--DVM stands for Digital Volt Meter. Since virtually all modern meters measure current as well (some measure capacitance, frequency, transistor hfe as well!) meters are generally classified as DMMs - Digital Multi Meters. Good luck!!
