Hi!
__________________So I have been searching around since yesterday for a proper guide to vmod my 8600GTS (EVGA 256-P2-N761-TR), but it seems that it's not the same layout as what I have found for other GTS's, not even the reference board... Here is what the card looks like, and what may be the Buck PWM Controllers (Although I don't know which one is which): Front ![]() Back ![]() full size of back ![]() The marked controllers are the ISL6568CRZ and the ISL6549CBZ (Click for data sheet). from here on, how do I proceed with the pencil mod? Where are my measuring points? Since I'm going to get a new system soon anyway, I wouldn't mind fiddling around with this one and see how far it goes ![]() Thanks in advance!

Can you measure the voltage of the chokes on the board to get a voltage reading? The choke which gives a reading of about 2v will be the one for vmem the other for vcore.
Now IIRC some 8800GT's used ISL6568CRZ for vcore control so it might be for that on this card but measuring the chokes would help

![]() Circled are the chokes The IC closest to the choke that reads 2v is the one that will control vmem the other vcore. The trimmer will go from the FB pin to the GND pin, the data sheet will say which pins theses are. To figure out what resistor you need; measure the resistance across the FB and GND pins. Multiply this resistance by 20 and this is the VR required. EG: if resistance across said pins gives 824ohms then its 824x20 = 16480. So a 20k vr would be perfect. Hope that helps, no vmod master by any means.

Thanks, I'll give this a go
![]() I just mounted a Scythe Musashi onto the card, but it can't be inserted since it touches the PCI slots below -.-

BZ is the mem voltage controller [pin4 to VR for vMEM]..RZ is the GPU voltage controller [pin 6 to VR for GPUv] ...
