This...
![]() ..only you dont need to hook up a ground point on the GPU, for the molex plug....it is actually dangerous to have the ground and hot lead so close together [on the molex] if your probes touch...boom! ![]() Just use the CPU case, or a screw...anything metal..preferably not on the GPU..this way, you only have 1x probe to deal with, and dont have to worry about accidental short. IMO- using an external ground to measure from, will not change any reading...in other words- grounding to 'the source' is not necessary...any ground will do..and external grounds are safer. So, is the GPU still functioning?

*Just dont forget to set resistance on the VR back to the stock measured value, once your all 'hooked up'.

Looking real good!
![]() *Also...1.7v on air should be do-able...800-900mhz core speeds as well. We can cap the output phase too, if OCP shows up, to squeak a little moar mhz out of it too.

I've run into a problem here. There seems to be over voltage protection on this chip or something.
I put a 50k VR from pin #6 to ground on U503 and couldn't boot at anything over -15 ohms. From the original 990 to 980 was fine. Voltage from 1.12 to 1.14 idle. So I removed the VR for now and am trying a pencil mod to see how it goes. I've penciled this resistor point below U503 and got the ohms to 975 from 990. I've gotten the core up to 820--20MHz further than possible before but at 825 I freeze up. Temps are fine 38 idle, highest I've seen in COD4 was 44c. Can't seem to get the ohms down any lower though..?

You want to pencil the resistor marked with green...just below the 'mod leg'...not the one indicated in the pic above....
![]() ![]() I know this is the U503...but same principal applies.

Ah, okay. Let me go try that. I've been struggling with this all day.
__________________I got 825 rolling for a good 25 minutes, then my screen went black, and I got thrown back to my desktop. COD4 didn't close but my mouse was unresponsive. Had to Alt+Tab+Del and shut the game down. Temps never passed 45c. Also I moved the 2 sinks I had left over to the mosfets next to the controller for the gpu.

^^^ indicates core failure... so not enough volts...
