I was adding stuff to the inside of my pc and had to remove the hard drive. In the process I had dropped one of my hard drive onto the case and now it doesn't work. It wasn't that big of a fall 6 inch? maybe and now all my pictures and music are gone. Is there any way to recover my stuff on it, because windows won't recognize it.
this is gonna suck.

if its actually damaged, then theres probably no way to recover your data. Well, you could always take it to a data recovery company, but thats if the data is worth the money.

Put it in a ziploc bag and put it in the freezer for like 30 minutes. Then hook it up and see if it works.

connect it to your mobo and try it like that.
but a 6" drop should break it, hard drives are pretty sterdy and can stand alot of g's before breaking.

What I mean spin up, does the drive spin? when you power up the machine, you should feel the drive vibrate/hum.
__________________what I have done in the past with HDD`s that have failed is to swap the pcb with another known working one. (Same make/model) Be very carefull if you`ve got the knowhow to do this, some have little tiny connectors that squeeze between the pcb and the metal casing of the drive, they have a tendancy to stick to the pcb and fall off without you noticing them! If you think that may help PLEASE take your time when doing this, last thing you want is two buggered drives
