Default maxtor problem

So yeah while at lan party my Maxtor SL600w\idontgivea**** quit working.

Anything i can do to get aything off the drive? it had two partitions so iwas thinkingicant use a data recovering program to get it off....

It justdoes not pick up the partitions.... **** maxtor i hate them, $700-$1000 to get the data off >_<

try it in another comp as aslave drive might work might not my maxtor died before but i couldnt get anything off it lucky it was my dads and he didnt have much seagate ftw

my maxtor has been okay, just switched over my master to a 74gig raptor due to the lack of speed though. Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but bloodstains is correct in suggesting setting it as a slave on another sys to see if it is salvagable...

Yeah got it ina compaq now and it says it needs formating. and only 1 partition and yeah it's not working....

ask around at local computer repair places.. maybe even the geek desk at bestbuy.. a few of them have the nessacary equipment to retrieve data...

my ex found a place to recover her hard drive in ga for 250 dollars.. if i was on talking terms id get you the name of the place

Putting it into another Computer will most likely not solve your problem. As another computer will want to formate the drive you will have to have it as a slave in your current system and try and repair it from another windows installation.

hahaha i did that! BUT the drive was maxtor and guess what? it does not spin up!

as ENTERPRISE1701 said it wants to format.

ENTERPRISE1701, is there a program i can use if i quick format it to pull the info off? i have a WD40 i want to get that data on.. there is so much sentmental and other expesive stuff that's irraplacable
