Default DVD writer + DVD-ROM drive

I've seen some people get a DVD writer + a DVD-ROM drive. I only have a DVD writer on my shopping list though...

Is there any reason to get Both drives? It seems to me like a plain ol' DVD writer can do everything necessary (read/write CDs, read/write DVDs)

Thanks
-EJ

if you want to copy DVDs maybe but even then you could just save an image and then burn it. it's just nice sometimes.

No, there is no reason to get it. A single DVD±RW is sufficient for everything. The only reason people get two drives is to copy DVDs/CDs directly. Unless you use that A LOT there is no reason to get two. If you have one DVD±RW, the software will create a temporary image for you and burn it. Stay with one and save yourself $30.

Ah okay great, thanks guys! I don't really ever copy cds/dvds so I'll just stick with the single drive.
