Currently I've got windows XP working on my rig, I'm getting a second but dont want to get a whole new OS. What I planned to do is hook the computer up with the old hard drive in it and boot up from it with the new hard-ware and then format the second hard-drive and transfer everything to it. I think I've misplace my registration key, though, but I didn't think it would be a problem.
Now my question: Is this even possible? I'm totally in the dark, any input would be appreciated!

usually this can be done using the program that comes on the CD from the hard drive manufacturer or you can download the program from their site. it should allow you to choose to make it a new boot device and it will copy everything over to the new drive including the OS. then all you have to do is boot from your old drive and run the program. what kind of hard drive is it?

Not sure what the old hard-drive is. The new one is a 250gb seagate 7200.
