Default Sata Optical drives?

i read that there are some out there, and decently cheap ones?
methinks this may be an excellent solution to cable management

I have had my plextor SATA drive for like 8 months to a year now. They don't have it on the egg anymore though. Its model PX-716AS. Its discontinued though.

Have you seen their blu-ray burner?

The little computer store down the street from me is currently selling two SATA DVD-R drives for about $25, that's a steal if you ask me.

Do sata dvd drives allow for faster data transfer? Or would you just be limited to the read speed of the drive itself? I image the later would be the case.

higher data transfer speed at 3.0Gb/s, but more importantly much higher throughput, data is sent serially.
