SO I got this today in a trade for a P4 motherboard...200GB Sata.
Put it in...mobo recognizes...formats with Windows CD...recognizes.
Reboots...Bios does not see drive anymore...faint ticking sound can be heard.
Put drive in NF3 rig...same story...put drive in other NF4 rig...ditto.
As a last resort...put in Linux box...nada.
Somebody tell me what's really going on here with this drive...
I picked it up cause I though one of my 80's in Raid was failing...now I'm Zero-writing them both and they cleared diagnosis so WTH?

maxtor= unreliable piece of crap. i have at least 15 hd's by maxtor and none of them work. your best off turning them into speakers or splitting out the magnets and using the platters as coasters

I wanted a WD...I should've got a WD...never had this problem before so quick...
Well WD 80GB Caviar SE...on the Sabayon FTW!!!
Now I gotta format my old 100GB so my Expert rig will run and a 8GB/6GB for my NF3...
