disk read error on startup

whenever I restart my computer I get a "insert system disk and press enter" line. I go into POST setup and then save and exit it works fine. whats the deal? Why is it doing this and how can I fix it?

How is your boot order configured in the BIOS. It's possible that the primary boot device is the CD-rom drive. It tries to boot from CD-rom then entering the BIOS switches to the HD and then it works. Just a thought tho.

there is no floppy drive in my computer. It does look for a cd, but it has never been a problem before.

Try enabling only the hard drive. Disable floppy/cd/removable.

my computer does not have a floppy either, but the mb will still search for one, and fail to boot because it can't find one, duh. so i have to set it in BIOS that there is no floppy drive.
