Default Installing XP on a Sata HD

Well I have a problem on installing my windows XP on my new Sata Harddrive. I finally got my computer to recognize it, but as it is starting setup at the begining of installation, it gives me an Error and a new Window pops up and it says:

Error
Installation Failed: (CD Rom Drive Letter)\Root\CPROF\1386\asms. Error Message ata error (cyclic redundancy check).

Can someone tell me what is the problem? I have used this XP Cd installation before on my last computer. Well if someone can help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

are you booting up fom the CD DRIVE to do yr install of XP and have you got a floppy with yr SATA DRIVERS on it .?

you will need them prior to loading XP on to it , you do it in setup

and have you formatted and done partition ( i know that is a given, but sometimes we overlook the simple)

cheers

Well at the begining, I had problems with the drivers, But I finally got the Drivers in and partitioned it and formated it. I guess I will have to go out and buy another XP PRO.

is the SATA HDD in yr SATA 1 port ?

have you got set to BOOT
FLOPPY
CD

MBR SATA HDD

yr CD DRIVE is set as the MASTER in the SECONDARY OR PRIMARY IDE SLOT,

it doesn't matter which IDE 1 or 2 cause yr HDD is on the SATA port
