My IDE 60GB Maxtor is living their last days...
I saved all my files... everything... Tried to format it with the Windows CD... But doesnt work... No bad sector... no errors.... It is slow as hell... There is something more I can do? http://www.overclock.net/hard-drives...hdd-dying.html ![]() Edit: It took me a time to look in google... And finally I found a solution: 1. Install lastest chipset drivers.... 2. The IDE HDD must be working in DMA Mode... To check it go to -Device Manager" - IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers - Double click on Primary IDE Channel... (you will notice there are several of these, so check in everyone of them in Advance Setting Tab) 3. If you see that one is at last working in PIO Mode... Go to it driver tab, and click Uninstall... 4. Reboot Computer 5. When you go into Windows again, it will install the drivers with default settings... 6. Enjoy!

What error did you get when you formated?

Is not an error...
It formated succesfully... But when you try to copy, paste, play, defrag, delete files from the HD, it gets very slow... Making the computer very laggie and choppy
