Default Upgrade to RAID

I currently have a single 400 gig Seagate HDD but I'm getting 2 * 250 gig Seagates that I would like to put in a striped array. I'm brand new to RAID, but I'm fairly sure I can figure out how to set it up via the internets and enable XP to see it via a floppy driver install. Of course, any suggestions would be most appreciated.

The big question is this... I'm very attached to the load of data on my current HDD and would like to x-fer this over to the RAID array after its been installed. Is this possible? I imagine its just a matter of setting up the RAID array, then I thought I'd be able to use Seagate's DiscWizard to clone my current 400 gig over to the RAID and then set the boot order to boot the RAID array first.
Does this sound kosher?

Also, what's anyone's opinions of the ASUS P5NE-SLI's RAID controller? It seems there's the JMicron packaged from ASUS as well as NVidia's MediaShield (which is not in my NVidia control panel though I've downloaded and installed the IDE drivers the user manual says need to be installed in order to use MediaShield). These are both totally software controllers, yes? Is there a hardware controller built into the motherboard? This whole bit of noodles confuzzles me much.

use norton ghost 11 live cd. create your array and then boot to the cd and copy the data over. FIRST.. install the raid driver in windows. it will need it to boot after you copy the data over.

So I should install RAID drivers on my current hard drive, then set up the array, then just clone the data over from the single drive to the RAID array?

Yes, but be sure that you don't format the drive first. It'll confuse the heck out of windows, and I did that stupidity making it not boot.

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.
