Default Transfer all files including OS

Okay i have a 200 gb hard drive with everything on it right now, and im wanting to put my two 80gb hard drives in raid 0. Is it possible to back upmy 200 gb hard drive with the OS on it with my raid 0 array... and then using the Raid 0 aray to boot from and completely erase my 200 and use it for storage?

Im just wanting to avoid reinstalling everythign again.. on my system...

THanks

It'll be better to reinstall everything.
This is a new system right?
Might as well start fresh and off to a good foot.

If you must know, look into disk imaging programs like "Arcronis True Image" or "Norton Ghost"
I dont know how they work with raid setups tho.

yeah, especially since you'll be going from a single disk to a RAID array. it would be far more trouble to try to keep everything in tact than to install fresh, if it's even possible at all.

what i'd suggest doing is connect your two new drives to the first two SATA ports, install your OS on that, and connect your third drive and pull what you need off of it.

then format it, and use it as storage.

Not trying to hijack here but I'm about to be almost in the same boat...

I am building a brand new fresh rig but have a 250gig HD(IDE) and don't really want to use it with new system...

Is there a way to move everything we want minus the OS to the new drive w/o having to reinstall everything?

Going from IDE 250gig 32bit OS to SATA 320gig 64bit OS...

Is this even possible?

yeah, i mean.. if you're going to a completely new OS (including 32 -> 64-bit versions of the same OS), you're gonna have to reinstall either way.. but if you're using multiple drives, you can always just hook up your "old" drive as a secondary, and boot from the new one. like i said, you'll have to do a fresh install on the new drive either way, but you'll be able to pull what files you need from the old one.

Thanks man, That's kind of what I was thinking...I just it hooked up long enough to copy everything we need over then get rid of the IDE drive or possibly use for extra storage...

sounds like a perfect candidate for a USB external enclosure to me.
