Default Vertial Hard drive

I am seriously considering buying this e-sata hard drive dock. It suit my needs perfectly.

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...oducts_id=6883

I am a little worried thought about having a hard drive mounted vertically. Will this affect it in any way? What happens if I then mount it horizontally?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just what I was thinking of ordering. Lemme know how it goes. Back to topic, if It was risky I 'doubt' they would have it that way, while I dont forsee a problem vertically, horizontally, I am not so sure. You intend to use this constantly and for a long time ?

Orientation should not matter.

I only just noticed your topic then. Exactly the same question. Oh well.

As for usage I would only use it periodically. My main reason for wanting this is so that I can use cheap hard drives as a good backup solution. I just fill a drive and then I can fill another without to much hassle or the expense of a external hard drive.

Orientation of the HDD does not matter. All internal components are very well held into place.

Orientation does not matter, like Blameless said above. In many pre-built rigs they have a vertical orientation. In my old Dell (8 years old) it has been working in a vertical orientation with no problems. With any orientation, just make sure it is securely attached so that no vibration takes place.

lol .

I dont see a problem with backup usage as you mentioned(Pretty much the reason I want it for as well)
. I dont forsee the harddrive breaking and the disks chopping your neck off or something . Because it looks vertical not tilted. But I guess I would recommend you not leave it around unguarded and be a little more careful as the hard drive will not be protected by an enclosure.
